Since May is UV Awareness Month Dr's Hurst and Sculley wanted to share a few statistics.
- Most individuals acquire 80% of their lifetime UV ray exposure before age 18.
- UV ray damage is cumulative and can lead to cataracts, macular degeneration and loss of sight.
- Children as well as adults should always wear quality sunglasses offering UV protection outdoors.
Things to look for when choosing sunglasses:
- They should block 99-100% of both UVA and UVB rays
- Free of distortions and imperfections
- Those who are spending a lot of time outdoors should consider wrap-around style frames for maximum protection.
Dr's Hurst and Sculley want you to protect your eyes for a lifetime of healthy vision. Shade your eyes and enjoy your summer!
